Privacy Policy

MaffeiTools is a catalog of free web utilities operated by MaffeiFlow, a small independent studio based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. We built MaffeiTools to be useful without being extractive — and that starts with being clear about what we do and don’t do with your data.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit maffeitools.com or use any tool, feature, or page that links to this policy (collectively, the Service), how we use that information, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. It applies to everyone who interacts with MaffeiTools, regardless of where you live.

We’ve tried to write this in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us at support@maffeiflow.com and we’ll be happy to explain. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in line with this policy.

We collect a small amount of information to run MaffeiTools, keep it working, and respond to you when you reach out. We’ve grouped the categories below by how we collect them.

Information you provide directly

When you contact us, submit a report, subscribe to our newsletter, or create an account for a feature that requires one, we may collect:

• Your name (when you give it to us in a form)
• Your email address
• The contents of any message, report, or feedback you send us
• Account credentials, where a tool requires sign-in (we store a hashed password — never the original)

Information collected automatically

When you load a page on MaffeiTools, your browser sends us standard technical information that we use for diagnostics, security, and aggregate analytics:

• IP address and approximate location (city / country level)
• Browser type and version, operating system, and device type
• Screen resolution, viewport size, language, and timezone
• Referring URL, the pages you view, and the time spent on them
• Crash and error reports — including the URL where the error happened and a stack trace, with no personal payload attached

Tool input and output

Most MaffeiTools utilities run entirely in your browser. That means the text, files, images, or other data you type into a tool are processed on your device and are never sent to our servers. We can’t see what you convert, format, or generate.

A small number of features need a server round-trip to work — for example, certain image conversions or lookups that depend on third-party APIs. When that’s the case, we tell you in the tool itself, the request data isn’t persisted beyond what’s needed to return a result, and we don’t associate it with your identity.

We only use the information described above for a limited set of purposes:

• Operate the Service. Serving pages, fixing bugs, keeping things online, and improving performance.
• Communicate with you. Responding to support requests, answering questions, and following up on reports you submit through our forms.
• Send the newsletter — only with consent. If you opt in, we’ll send occasional updates about new tools or changes. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and we don’t sell or rent the list.
• Understand usage in aggregate. We look at anonymous, page-level traffic to see which tools are useful and where we should spend time.
• Protect the Service. Detecting and preventing abuse, fraud, or attempts to interfere with normal operation.
• Comply with the law. Where we’re legally required to retain or disclose information, we do.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.

MaffeiTools uses cookies and similar browser storage (such as localStorage) for a few specific reasons. The first time you visit, you’ll see a consent banner that lets you opt in or out of non-essential categories.

Essential

Required for the site to function — for example, remembering that you’ve dismissed the consent banner, or keeping you signed in to features that require an account. These cannot be turned off.

Preferences

Things like your theme (light or dark), language, and tool-specific settings. We use these to make the experience feel consistent across visits.

Analytics

Aggregate, privacy-respecting analytics that help us understand which pages and tools people use. We do not run ad-tracking pixels and we don’t profile individual users.

Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. Blocking essential cookies may break parts of the Service.

We hold on to personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it. In practice:

• Support emails and contact-form messages: kept for up to 24 months so we can refer back to ongoing conversations, then deleted or anonymized.
• Newsletter list: kept until you unsubscribe. After that, your email is removed from active sending, with a minimal suppression record so we don’t accidentally email you again.
• Server logs (IP address, user agent, request path): retained for up to 90 days for debugging and abuse prevention, then deleted.
• Aggregate analytics: retained indefinitely in fully anonymized, non-identifying form.

We’ll keep information longer where the law requires us to — for example, to comply with tax or accounting obligations — or where it’s necessary to defend a legal claim.

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information:

• All traffic to and from MaffeiTools is encrypted in transit using TLS.
• Where we store personal data on a server, it’s encrypted at rest using industry-standard encryption.
• Access to systems holding personal data is limited to people at MaffeiFlow who need it to do their job, and is gated by multi-factor authentication.
• We log administrative access and review it regularly for anomalies.

No service that transmits or stores data over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. We do our best, but we can’t warrant absolute security. If we ever become aware of a breach that materially affects your personal information, we’ll notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

A few MaffeiTools features make calls to third-party APIs from your browser — meaning the request goes directly from your device to those services, not through our servers. When you use the IP/network report tool, your browser may contact the following providers to look up details about your connection:

• ipapi.co — IP geolocation and ISP lookup
• ip-api.com — IP geolocation and ASN lookup
• ipinfo.io — IP geolocation and organization lookup

These providers will receive your public IP address by virtue of how HTTP works, and they each have their own privacy policies that govern what they do with that data. We don’t send them any other personal information about you.

MaffeiTools may also link to third-party websites, articles, and tools we find useful. We don’t control those destinations, and we’re not responsible for their content or how they handle your data — we encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing them with information.

Depending on where you live, applicable data protection law may give you the following rights over your personal information:

• Access. Ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Rectification. Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
• Deletion. Ask us to delete your personal information, subject to limited exceptions where we need to keep it for legal reasons.
• Restriction. Ask us to limit how we process your information while a request is being resolved.
• Portability. Ask us to provide your information in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
• Objection. Object to processing that we base on our legitimate interests.
• Withdraw consent. Where processing is based on your consent (such as the newsletter), withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@maffeiflow.com from the address associated with your account or correspondence. We’ll respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your jurisdiction.

MaffeiTools is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@maffeiflow.com and we’ll delete it.

Where local law sets a higher age of digital consent (for example, 16 in parts of the EU), we apply that higher age instead.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the Service evolves, the law changes, or our practices change. When we make a material update, we’ll:

• Update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
• Post a notice on the site for at least 30 days.
• Where we have your email address and the change affects you directly, send you a notification.

Continuing to use MaffeiTools after the changes take effect means you accept the updated policy. If you don’t agree, please stop using the Service and contact us to delete any account or personal information we hold.

MaffeiTools is operated by MaffeiFlow, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. We’re the data controller for the information described in this policy.
