About IBAN generator

Generates structurally valid test IBANs and checks any IBAN you paste, explaining every reason it fails. It is for developers and testers working with payment forms and bank-detail fields who need realistic values, and for anyone wanting to find the typo in an account number.

How to use it

1. Keep Mode on Generate and choose a Country. Twenty are supported, including Germany, the United Kingdom, France, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
2. Set How many, from 1 to 500, and toggle Print format (groups of four) to add or remove the spaces.
3. Select Generate, then Copy all or Download .txt. Each line also has a copy button.
4. Switch Mode to Validate, type or paste an IBAN, and read the badges and messages that appear.

Validate: GB82 WEST 1234 5698 7654 33

Not valid. Fails the ISO 7064 mod-97-10 checksum (remainder 28, expected 1). The correct check digits for this account number would be 55.

When to use it

• Filling a bank-details form with values that pass client-side format validation.
• Building fixtures for an accounting or invoicing system that stores IBANs.
• Finding out whether a customer's IBAN failed because of a typo, a wrong length or a bad country code.
• Learning what each block of a national account number represents, because a segment with the wrong characters is reported by name, such as Bank code or Sort code.

Questions about IBAN generator

How does the check digit work?

The first four characters move to the end, letters become numbers from 10 to 35, and the resulting long integer must leave a remainder of 1 when divided by 97. Generation reverses this, setting the two digits after the country code so that it holds.

Do the generated IBANs belong to real accounts?

No. The bank and account parts are random, and no bank issued them. They pass structural checks only, and strict systems that also verify national check keys or real bank codes may reject them.

What if my country is not in the list?

The validator still runs the mod-97 checksum but says it cannot check the length or layout for that country.

Does lowercase or spacing matter?

No. Spaces are removed and letters are uppercased before checking, so gb82west12345698765432 validates the same as the printed form.

Does a valid result prove the account exists?

It only proves the number is well formed. Only the bank can confirm that an account is open. Never paste a real IBAN into any test tool.
