Builds a Windows icon (.ico) from a WebP image, with a choice of standard sizes for favicons and app icons.
Builds a Windows icon (.ico) from a WebP image, with a choice of standard sizes for favicons and app icons. The picture is scaled to fit a square canvas, centered, and left transparent around the edges. It is a quick way to make a favicon from a logo you have as WebP.
A 300 x 200 WebP logo with icon size 32 selected.
The scale is min(32/300, 32/200) = 0.1067, so the logo is drawn 32 wide by about 21 tall, centered with roughly 5 transparent pixels above and below, inside a 32 x 32 icon.
Good to know. The image inside the ICO is a 32-bit PNG, which every current browser and Windows version reads. Very old software from before Windows Vista may not.
.webp allowed.
16×16 and 32×32 are standard browser-tab favicons. The image is scaled to fit and centered on a transparent square.
