Image Resizer

About Image Resizer

The Image Resizer changes an image to exact pixel dimensions while keeping the picture from stretching, if you want. It includes ready-made sizes for social posts, banners, video frames and avatars, and lets you save the result as WebP, JPEG or PNG. Use it whenever a platform demands specific dimensions.

How to use it

1. Drop an image onto the Upload area, or paste one with Ctrl+V. The Width and Height boxes fill in with its real size.
2. Pick a Recommended size such as Instagram post or YouTube thumbnail, or type your own Width and Height in pixels.
3. Leave Lock aspect ratio on to have the other dimension follow automatically, or turn it off to set both freely.
4. Choose an Output format and, for WebP or JPEG, a Quality between 10 and 100.
5. Press Resize Image, review the size badges, and press Download.

Proportional resize

4000 x 3000 photo, aspect ratio locked, Width set to 1200

Height becomes 900, so the result is 1200 x 900 px, saved as WebP at quality 92 by default.

When to use it

• Producing a 1080 by 1080 square for an Instagram post from a wide photo.
• Shrinking screenshots to 1280 pixels wide before adding them to documentation.
• Making a 256 pixel avatar for a profile page or forum.
• Preparing a 1584 by 396 LinkedIn banner from a larger design.

Questions about Image Resizer

Why does choosing a preset turn off the aspect lock?

Presets set both numbers at once, and many, like a 1500 by 500 header, do not match your photo's shape. Unlocking stops one value overriding the other, but the image is stretched to fit, so crop first if that matters.

What is the largest size I can create?

Each side is limited to between 1 and 8192 pixels. Enlarging works, but it only interpolates existing pixels, so the result looks softer rather than gaining detail.

Which output format is the best default?

WebP is preselected because it usually gives the smallest file at a given quality and keeps transparency. Pick JPEG for maximum compatibility or PNG for a lossless copy.

What happens to transparency?

WebP and PNG keep it. JPEG has no alpha channel, so the tool paints a white background behind the image first, and transparent regions come out white.
