This tool aligns two DNA or protein sequences end to end with the Needleman-Wunsch algorithm.
This tool aligns two DNA or protein sequences end to end with the Needleman-Wunsch algorithm. You set match, mismatch and gap scores, and it returns the optimal alignment, its total score, the percent identity and a text view with vertical bars marking matching columns.
A = GATTACA, B = GCATGCU (match 1, mismatch -1, gap -2)
No gaps. Score -1, 3 of 7 columns match, 42.9% identity. Aligned columns: G=G, T=T, C=C.
Good to know. Each input is limited to 2000 letters, counted after any FASTA header line is dropped, because the cost grows with the product of the two lengths. Longer input is cut and a notice says so. When several optimal alignments tie, one is shown.
