About PDF Merge

This tool joins two or more PDF files into a single document, in the order you arrange them. It shows each file's page count and a running total before you merge, and it works entirely in your browser. It is meant for assembling reports, applications and scanned batches.

How to use it

1. Drop your PDF files onto the drop zone, or click to browse. You can select several at once.
2. Check the PDFs to merge list, where each file shows its page count.
3. Use the up and down arrows to put the files in the order you want, and the X button to remove one.
4. Select the Merge button, which shows the file count and total pages.
5. Download maffei-merged.pdf from the Result section.

Order decides the page sequence

cover.pdf (1 page), report.pdf (12 pages), appendix.pdf (4 pages), in that order.

The button reads Merge 3 PDFs (17 pages total). The merged file contains the cover first, pages 2 to 13 from the report and pages 14 to 17 from the appendix.

When to use it

• Combining a cover letter, resume and certificates into one application package.
• Joining separately scanned pages into a single document for filing.
• Assembling monthly statements into one PDF for the accountant.
• Adding an appendix or signed page to the end of an existing report.

Questions about PDF Merge

Is there a minimum number of files?

Yes. The merge button stays disabled with the message Add at least 2 PDFs to merge until two files are in the list.

Can I drag files to reorder them?

Reordering uses the up and down arrow buttons on each row. Dropping new files onto the zone just adds them to the end of the list.

What if one file cannot be read?

It is flagged in the list and, if it still fails during the merge, skipped with its name and reason shown. The other files are combined as usual, and the tool only errors if no pages could be merged.

Are my files sent anywhere?

No. The pages are copied together by a PDF library in your browser, and the output is created as a local download rather than uploaded.

Will bookmarks and form fields survive?

No. Each file is copied page by page into a new document, so the bookmark outline is not carried over, and form fields stop being fillable because the form definition stays behind. Page content and link annotations are kept.
