About PDF Split

This tool divides one PDF into smaller files using one of three methods: extract a page range, cut every N pages, or divide into a set number of equal parts. It previews how many PDFs will result, and packages multiple outputs as a ZIP, all inside your browser.

How to use it

1. Drop a PDF onto the drop zone. Its page count and file name appear.
2. Under Split mode choose Extract range, Split every N pages or Split into equal parts.
3. Enter the values: From page and To page, Pages per chunk, or Number of parts.
4. Read the line that begins Will produce to confirm how many files you will get.
5. Select the Split button, then download a single file or Download all as ZIP.

• Breaking a scanned batch into one PDF per page, using every 1 page.
• Cutting a large document into smaller pieces to fit an email attachment limit.
• Splitting a combined invoice file into equal sections for different departments.

Questions about PDF Split

How does Split every N pages handle a remainder?

It cuts full chunks of N pages and the last file holds whatever is left. A 10 page PDF with N set to 4 gives files of 4, 4 and 2 pages.

What does equal parts do when pages do not divide evenly?

The remainder is spread across the first parts, one extra page each, so no part differs from another by more than one page.

Do my pages leave my computer?

No. The source is read and each new PDF is built locally with a PDF library, and downloads come from temporary in-memory files.

How are the output files named?

Each is called maffei-split-pX-pY.pdf, where X and Y are its first and last page in the original. Several outputs can be downloaded together as maffei-split.zip.

Do the inputs have limits?

Values are clamped to the document, so a start page cannot go below 1, an end page cannot pass the last page, and the number of parts cannot exceed the page count.
