Reverse List

About Reverse list

The reverse list tool takes the items in a list and returns them in the opposite order, so the last item comes first. It works on one item per line or on a single line split by a comma, semicolon, pipe, tab or space. It is useful for turning an oldest-first export into newest-first, or checking a countdown.

How to use it

1. Put your items in the List Items box, with one on each line.
2. The Delimiter menu starts on Newline. Pick Comma, Semicolon, Pipe, Tab or Space if the items sit on one line separated by that character.
3. Click Reverse List.
4. Copy the result. The heading shows how many items were reversed, and your original list is kept below it.

When to use it

• Flipping a chronological export so the newest entries are at the top.
• Turning an ascending sequence of steps or numbers into a countdown.
• Reordering a pasted table column, such as version numbers listed oldest first.
• Checking that a stack-versus-queue example gives the expected last-in, first-out order.

Questions about Reverse list

Does reversing sort my items?

No. It only flips the existing order and never compares the items. To put things in alphabetical order use the List alphabetizer instead.

Are blank lines kept?

They are removed. Empty items and those containing only spaces are filtered out before reversal, which also means the item count in the heading ignores them.

Are spaces after the commas preserved?

No. Each item is trimmed, so one, two, three is treated as three items with no leading spaces and comes back joined by plain commas. Spaces inside an item stay.

What joins the reversed items in the output?

The same delimiter you chose for the input. A line-based list comes back as lines, a tab-separated list as tabs, and a comma list separated by commas.
